The gilded tiers of Kinkaku-ji shimmer amidst dark pines, their brilliant reflection resting on the glass-like pond under a pale afternoon sky. Crisp late-autumn air settles over the garden as red maple leaves brush the edge of the frame. You can feel the stillness in the air, broken only by the softest ripple across the water.
